Is facbook safe for kids under 13?

Hay everyone, i'm here to ask you guys is “facebook” safe for young children under 13? i've seen the news that this young girl was getting sèxual comments on her page, by a man i his mid 30s. they did traced him and arrested him with several charges including assault while trying to flee his apartment.


The guy was posing as a 12 year boy, his account said it was, but the girl got suspicious and called her parents then they called police. i'm happy that he's put behind bars, because i don't like pedos.


My opinion was (Yes) it's not safe for children under 13 to make a account on facebook. you never know who your taking to at that age. my mom didn't allow me to have one until i turned 13. post comments or questions about this.

I totally agree my beloved sniv, but it's not just FB it's all over the place including, forums. this is the “internet” if ya don't remember hon. you don't know who is what, or what's really on their minds. O.O

Not at all, but who's to stop you? People post pornography, suggestive materials and medias, vulgar things, racist things, slandering things...everything bad imaginable. That's just our world today, though.

Since Facebook is full of mature things i'd rather say children under 13 shouldn't get Facebook, because of the site's inappropriate images from older people, but hey, some of these morons are pretending to be kids just to harass them. That is why Facebook is meant for older people, and not for kids under 13. Aldo some of these little ones just create a facebook account, and enter their fake birth date, so whatcha gonna do about that.

I was going to get facebook but i have twitter and both are useless just my opinion

Ugh. Please don't introduce 12 year-olds or younger onto facebook. We don't need any more kids overusing the word "YOLO" and "DERP". e_o

I don't think it's safe to let a kid under the of 13 to use facebook or signup to any site. i've a 10 year old daugher who wanted to make a facebook account but i said no, wait until your 13. i tell her to stay in a child's place and don't worry about that. facebook is mostly for teenagers and adults anyway so yeah.
